Fashionable British baby product manufacturer MacLaren is recalling around a million strollers sold since 1999, according to a report in the New York Daily News. The News says that the recall comes in the wake of injuries to 12 babies who lost the tips of their fingers when they became caught in the stroller’s hinges.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has not confirmed the details of the recall, which was set to take place on Tuesday. All of the company’s “umbrella” style strollers are affected.

MacLaren is offering safety covers to parents who have purchased the strollers to prevent future injuries. The injuries apparently occurred while the strollers were being folded and children’s fingers were trapped in the hinges. The snazzy strollers can cost hundreds of dollars.
