After an early May recall of 40 different varieties of liquid medications — including Children’s Tylenol and Motrin — manufactured at a Johnson & Johnson plant in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration criticized sloppy quality control that led to the recall, and prompted a Congressional inquiry. Last week, another company with products manufactured at the Fort Washington plant, Blacksmith Brands, issued a recall of some of its PediaCare liquid medications for “precautionary reasons.” The most recent recall linked to the same plant prompted Congress to expand it’s inquiry to include PediaCare products as well.

As NPR reports, Rep. Edolphus Towns (D-NY), Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, sent a letter to Blacksmith Brands questioning what circumstances prompted the PediaSure recall. The company has said they will cooperate with the Congressional inquiry.
