President Obama took a little flak when it was announced this week that he’d be penning an illustrated kids book, called Of Thee I Sing: A Letter to My Daughters. Wags suggested, among other things, that perhaps the leader of the free world might have better things to do.
White House Kids’ Books: Whose is Worst?
This is a cute enough story about Tyrone, a little guy who doesn’t like books. Eventually he listens to books being read aloud, finds they’re awesome and it all ends happily in the library. Ironically, for kids like Tyrone, this is not a book that will help; it's just not exciting enough to hold his attention. (No flatulent dogs for starters.) Besides, most reluctant readers are fine with being read to. It's reading for themselves they hate.
