The Graco Children’s Products, Inc., is voluntarily recalling 2 million older models of Quattro Tour and MetroLite strollers after receiving reports of four infants who strangled to death between 2003 and 2005. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPCS) also reports five infants getting trapped in the strollers and suffering cuts and bruises.
When children are not strapped into the strollers properly, they can slip and become entrapped between the stroller tray and seat bottom, which puts them at risk for strangulation and injury, the CPSC reports. (More on Time.com: Top 10 Product Recalls).
This is not Graco’s first recall this year. In January, the CPSC worked with the company to recall 1.5 million Passage, Alano and Spree strollers due to design flaws in the hinges of the stroller canopy that caused fingertip amputation in five children.
The Quattro Tour and MetroLite strollers involved in the current recall were sold between Nov. 2000 and Dec. 2007. For more information about the recall, see Graco’s website.
