Percentage of all deaths among boys and men aged 10 to 24 that could be attributed to injury or violence, according to a new study [PDF] by the World Health Organization. Because of the risk of injury, this older age group is now two to three times more likely to die prematurely than boys aged 1 to 4 — a major shift. However, global mortality rates have fallen overall in the last 50 years because of improvements in fighting infectious disease. [via The Lancet]
