13 hours
Average time that minority youth spend consuming media per day, about 4.5 hours more than their white counterparts, according to the first national study [PDF] to parse children's media use by race and ethnicity. The report found that compared with white kids, minority youth aged 6 to 18 spend at least an extra 1.5 hours each day using mobile devices to access media, 1 to 2 more hours watching TV, an extra hour listening to music, up to 1.5 hours more using a computer, and 30 to 40 minutes more playing video games. The only medium for which researchers found no difference was reading print for pleasure: in all groups, kids and teens read for pleasure for just 30 to 40 minutes a day. [via USA Today]
