Percent drop in the U.S. birth rate in 2010, the third year in a row of decline. Births had been on the rise for years, reaching an all-time high of more than 4.3 million births in 2007. Last year, it fell to slightly more than 4 million births, according to preliminary data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The continuing decline is probably due to the weak economy: unemployed women may feel they can't afford to start a family or add to it, experts said. [via AP]
