Estimated percentage of Americans with HIV who have their infections under control. That means that nearly three-quarters of the 1.2 million people in the U.S. with HIV are not getting adequate medicines to lower their levels of virus enough to stay healthy and prevent transmission to others. Part of the problem is that 20% of people with HIV don't even know they have it. And of those who have been diagnosed, only half are receiving regular care. The good news is that when people do receive consistent care, including antiretroviral drugs, they can control their infections 77% of the time. [via CDC]
