Number of H3N2 swine flu cases confirmed in the U.S. — a significant jump from 29 cases confirmed the previous week — thanks in large part to a wave of new cases in Indiana and Ohio. Health officials at the CDC say the increase is mostly a result of it being fair season in the U.S.: people, mostly children, are being exposed to flu-infected pigs at state and county agricultural fairs. The good news is that this strain of flu doesn’t appear to be unusually dangerous; most illnesses have been mild and no one has died. [via AP and L.A. Times]
