One of the hardest parts of any weight-loss plan is sticking with it. Sometimes, when you hit a plateau or have a bad week, you need an extra boost to keep you jazzed. “Whether it’s a high school reunion, a wedding or a milestone birthday, events seem to trigger some extra motivation dwelling within us,” says Jessica Lynn, director of program development at the Hilton Head Health Institute. “After that event has come and gone, we no longer feel the pressure of the deadline and start to let our focus and energy around our health and weight slip.”
So, after meeting your first deadline, Lynn recommends picking a new one. “Choose a new event, a vacation or just a three-month mark to keep you motivated for maintaining or losing weight,” says Lynn.
