— The number of states reporting high flu activity in the U.S.

Cases of influenza in the U.S. continue to rise as health officials urge people to get vaccinated. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the proportion of people seekingĀ  health care for influenza-like illness rose for four consecutive weeks, from 2.8% to 5.6%. This year’s flu season has yet to reach the peak levels of previous, moderately severe seasons, however. In 2007-2008, for example, 6.0% of those seeing their doctors reported influenza-like illness while during the 2009 H1N1 pandemic, 7.7% of those needing care were treated for flu. [via CDC]
