I have eaten bread and yoghurt that's well out of date without any problem. To me, if bread doesn't look mouldy and youghurt looks and tasts fine, no problem! Same with other food whenever...

On meats granny  and mom have both used and stored meats in the freezer for "years" and had no problems. Not just months as stated. Our old Frigidaire freezer (Monster) that it was. 36 inches wide X 7 feet? tall remained PACKED with meats that had been in there for many years. While defrosting the ol' girl last year we found 5 packages of meat wrapped in the old waxed brown meat packing paper commonly used in the 1950's. We almost threw it away but decided to thaw a pack and smell if it might ok to use it was and made and excellent stew with no ill effects.

thanks nice info really,iwas really mistaken believe that expiration dates are about food safety, when they are simply dates the manufacturer uses to gauge their products;
