Apple iWatch Watch: Is the Tech Giant Getting into the Fitness Biz?

1 minute read

Apple posted a job listing on its company’s website Thursday seeking an exercise physiologist to run cardiovascular fitness and energy expenditure tests, though it was later taken down.

The tech giant is reportedly in the process of developing a new iOS 8 application called HealthBook, according to 9to5Mac, which will capture users’ health-related data like calories burned, heart rate, and blood pressure–similar to popular products already on the market like FitBit.

The original job posting stated it was looking for someone with the “ability to design tests isolating the impact of various factors (activities, environments, individual subject differences, etc.) on the physiological effects being measured.”

The company has also started meeting with the FDA over medical applications, 9to5Mac reports.

Apple did not respond to requests to comment on the job posting and why it was removed.
