Northern Europe boasts the world’s happiest people while Egypt and nations suffering in the Eurozone crisis are markedly glee-free, according to a new study released Monday.
The 2013 World Happiness Report surveyed 156 countries and determined that Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Sweden are the world’s happiest nations. The U.S. came in at 17th cheeriest behind Canada in 6th and Mexico in 16th places. The world’s most populous country, China, came in at 93rd.
Inhabitants of Sub-Saharan African nations Rwanda, Burundi, the Central African Republic, Benin and Togo were least satisfied with their lives, according to the report by Columbia University’s Earth Institute.
