Percent increase in stress reported by women between 1983 and 2009, according to researchers at Carnegie Mellon University, who conducted the first historical comparison of stress levels in the U.S. The survey, involving more than 6,300 people, also found that stress increased 24% for men over the past 30 years and that among those respondents with higher stress levels overall were women, people with lower incomes and those with less education.
