Fine for smoking anywhere in New York City's 1,700 parks, on its 14 miles of public beaches or in any of the city's pedestrian plazas like Times Square or Union Square. The outdoor smoking ban, which was signed by Mayor Michael Bloomberg in February, went into effect on May 23 and will be enforced by the city's Parks Department. [via CNN]
