Increase in likelihood that people with Medicaid went to a clinic or saw a doctor, compared with the uninsured, according to an Oregon study that compared health-care access among those who were randomly selected to have Medicaid or not. People with insurance were 15% more likely to use prescription drugs, 30% more likely to be admitted to a hospital and 20% more likely to have their cholesterol checked. Women with Medicaid were 60% more likely to have mammograms, compared with women without insurance. People with Medicaid said they felt better too: they were 25% more likely to report good or excellent health and 40% less likely to report worsening health over the past year, compared with the uninsured.
