15 million

Number of people the World Health Organization (WHO) expects to get on life-saving HIV drugs by 2015. Currently, 8 million people in poor countries who have HIV are receiving antiretroviral medication. When you include those who are not sick yet, but who need medication to reduce the risk of infection or spread — such as high-risk groups, couples in which one partner is HIV-positive and pregnant women who need to take medication to protect their babies — the target rises to 23 million.
