After discovering she had breast cancer during a routine mammogram, the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter underwent minimally invasive surgery for early-stage breast cancer in February 2006, followed by six weeks of radiation. She has since campaigned to raise awareness about the importance of annual mammograms.
