Cool post, very informative. Like some, I myself have been a victim to gorging on a bigger-than-life sized portion of spaghetti after an exhausting workout.  Even though my body could utilize the carbs, it was like taking an Ambien. The rest of the day would be a blur, and any work left to do would have to wait until the next day.  I believe proper eating regimes should go hand-in-hand with exercise, and promoted as such. Not only to just repair the body correctly, but also to be able to function after working out.

I think there are far healthier options than mucus and sugar filled chocolate flavoured cow's milk.  How about a fruit smoothie made with banana, almond milk and almond butter?

The deluding of the world has got to stop! As a certified personal trainer (AFAA) amp; certified running coach (RRCA)  amp; accomplished endurance/sprint runner for 32 years, I saw a workshop at a coaching conference in Orlando "Marketing Chocolate Milk to Kids...the Ideal Recovery Drink." Put on by the Dairy Council. 

C'mon reporters of America...wake up and follow the money! 2X emmy-winner, National Press Club award for consumer reporter here, successfully dodging genes that gave mom, aunt amp; BOTH sisters breast cancer. And way more. I didn't get all the good genes.

At 59, my Senior Games 100 meter times are :06 slower than NCAA college girls' track team personal records. I know because my daughter was on the team last year and I have the media guide! 

I can't imagine anything more disgusting, mucous generating and nauseating at the end of a race than to drink chocolate milk. What humans crave after intense effort is electrolytes. Ever taste fruit at the end of a race? Now there's what mama nature had in mind. 

We're the only species that drinks milk beyond weaning. Nature provides enough energy/nutrients in other foods. Remember...there's no money in broccoli, no broccoli board or lobby. Be your own investigative reporter, discover the truth about food and who stands to gain financially.

The food was changed in the USA, UK and Australia 30 years ago when dangerous food chemicals from the USA was allowed into Europe. The food today causes stubborn insulin If you have stubborn insulin you hold fat and have a hard time losing weight. You can eat very little and the weight still does not come off. Absolutely, besides, "chocolate" milk doesn't have a trace of chocolate in it, it's all dangerous artificial flavorings.

BTW, i heard chocolate milk was made of old milk collected back from stores. I took it with a grain of salt, as i don't drink milk. But it became "official", the whistle blowers posted it on the web. 

This sorry excuse for an article is just junk food advertising in disguise.
