If you’re expecting the Bourbon Binge or the Weight Loss Bender, you might be disappointed with Lüc Carl’s account of how a fat, drunken rock ‘n’ roller morphed into a slim guy who runs and eats a lot of salads. The author is no longer as much of a reprobate as the title suggests. And although Carl still talks the talk of a committed drinker, you imagine him sobering up when nobody’s looking. To wit, his disclaimer: “Anyone who thinks I’m advocating alcoholism is an idiot.” One thing, though: Carl may not be a heavy drinker anymore, but he still swears like a drunken sailor.
